The CYST SD 1 micron CARBON Block is "environmentally friendly" manufactured. It filters very fine particles from drinking water such as giardia and cryptosporidium.

Giardia and cryptosporidium are two of the world's most common causes of intestinal parasitic infection.

Giardia and Cryptosporidium are the most commonly occurring protozoa in water tanks, e.g. on boats, yachts, motorhomes and caravans, camper vans, etc.

Giardia is a diarrheal disease caused by a single-celled, microscopic parasite, Giardia intestinalis (also known as Giardia lamblia). Once an animal or person becomes infected with Giardia intestinalis, the parasite continues to live in the intestines. Because the parasite is protected by an outer shell, it can survive outside the body and in the environment for an extended period of time.

Coconut-shell activated carbon has an exceptionally high micropore density, which means it can absorb more contaminants per gram. Activated carbon blocks made from 100% coconut shells are of higher quality than conventional activated carbon blocks from mass production in China.
