Water filters: Ensure better drinking water quality

Drinking water is one of the world's most valuable resources. According to official statistics, every German citizen consumes an average of up to 130 liters. The demand for drinking water has increased significantly, especially in recent decades. Even though in Germany it is known as one of the most strictly monitored foodstuffs, doubts about its quality are growing in many families. Using state-of-the-art systems, drinking water is cleaned and treated at a central point before you ultimately get it from the tap. However, even when the applicable limit values are observed, tiny amounts of impurities and pollutants still remain. If you would also like to remove these from the water, investing in a water filter is a good option.

Possible uses for water filters

Water filters, better known as drinking water filters, can be used in many different ways. They are suitable for installation in private households, but can also be used in public institutions and businesses. Even though there are now various water filters available, the basic operating principle is always the same. Either membranes or activated carbon blocks are used, through which the water must pass. These blocks and membranes are so finely meshed that water molecules can pass through easily, while the other substances contained in the water are retained.

Overview of different types of water filters

If you are looking for a suitable water filter for your needs, it is advisable to familiarize yourself with the various technologies. The reverse osmosis process has, for example, proven itself in many water filters over the years. It can also reliably retain problematic substances such as heavy metals, nitrate, and, for example, phosphate. Ion exchangers have also built a strong reputation for stationary use. Here, the ions dissolved in the drinking water are exchanged for ions with the same charge. They work reliably, but they do have one weak point. After a certain period of time, the microbial load increases significantly. For use on the go, you can also find various microfilters. These water filters are especially compact and easy to store. Their core components are hollow fiber membranes with a pore size of just 0.2 micrometers. They can also retain bacteria very reliably.
