In Germany, the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) implements the EU WEEE Directive on the handling of electronic waste.
The ElektroG is intended to ensure that old electrical equipment is not disposed of with household waste, but is collected separately and recycled.
Controlled and monitored disposal is intended to further combat the illegal export of old electrical equipment abroad, enable valuable raw materials to be reused, and reduce negative impacts on the environment and health.
To ensure that as much electrical and electronic equipment as possible is disposed of in an environmentally friendly way, municipal collection points have been set up and had to be equipped with a sufficient number of containers for collecting old devices. The further recovery and recycling of old devices is financed by the manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment, who are subject to mandatory registration in Germany.
We have less than 400 m² of shipping and storage space and are therefore not obliged under the ElektroG to take back old electrical equipment. Retailers or direct distributors with retail or storage areas of less than 400 m² are exempt from the statutory take-back obligations. However, voluntary take-back for disposal is still possible.
Information obligations towards private households pursuant to § 18 ElektroG
(1) In accordance with § 17 ElektroG, under the conditions stated therein, we are obliged to take back waste electrical and electronic equipment free of charge. We fulfill this legal obligation via the internet portal interseroh.de. Detailed information on the exact scope of our take-back obligations and the options we have created for returning old devices can be found via the following link:

(2) DISPOSAL NOTICE: Please remove the filter cartridges from your reverse osmosis system and dispose of them with household waste before placing the rest of the system in electronic waste!
(3) We inform all owners of waste electrical and electronic equipment that they are legally obliged to dispose of these devices through a collection system separate from unsorted municipal waste. In particular, disposing of waste electrical and electronic equipment in the residual waste bin or the yellow bin is prohibited. The symbol shown below and affixed to electrical and electronic equipment of a crossed-out wheeled bin additionally indicates the obligation for separate collection.
(4) We inform all owners of waste electrical and electronic equipment that they are legally obliged, before handing in these old devices, to remove waste batteries and accumulators; these must be removable by the end user without destruction before return using "standard commercially available tools".
(5) We inform all end users of waste electrical and electronic equipment that they are themselves responsible for deleting personal data on the old devices to be disposed of.
