The CYST SX 1 Micron CARBON Block is manufactured in an "environmentally friendly" way. It filters very fine particles from drinking water, such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium.

Giardia and Cryptosporidium are two of the world's most common causes of intestinal parasitic infection.

Giardia and Cryptosporidium are the most commonly occurring protozoa in water tanks, e.g. on boats, yachts, motorhomes and caravans, campers, etc.

Giardia is a diarrhoeal disease caused by a single-celled microscopic parasite, Giardia intestinalis (also known as Giardia lamblia). As soon as an animal or person becomes infected with Giardia intestinalis, the parasite continues to live in the intestine. Because the parasite is protected by an outer membrane, it can survive outside the body and in the environment for a longer period of time.

Coconut-shell activated carbon has an exceptionally high micropore density, which means it can absorb more contaminants per gram. Activated carbon blocks made from 100% coconut shells are of higher quality than conventional activated carbon blocks from mass production in China. 

Carbon blocks made from coconut shells are free from chemical additives or binders. Cheap activated carbon blocks from China contain additives and binders that could have a problematic effect on your drinking water.

Thanks to their high adsorption capacity, coconut-shell activated carbon is more effective at removing chlorine, heavy metals, pesticides, organic chemicals and unpleasant odours.
