The CYST SX 1 Micron CARBON Block is "environmentally friendly" manufactured. It filters very fine particles from drinking water, such as Giardia and Cryptosporidia.

Giardia and Cryptosporidia are two of the most common causes worldwide of intestinal parasitic infections.

Giardia and Cryptosporidium are the most common protozoa found in water tanks, e.g., on boats, yachts, motorhomes, and caravans, travel trailers, etc.

Giardia is a diarrheal disease caused by a single-celled, microscopic parasite Giardia intestinalis (also known as Giardia lamblia). Once an animal or person is infected with Giardia intestinalis, the parasite continues to live in the intestine. Since the parasite is protected by an outer shell, it can survive outside the body and in the environment for an extended period.

Coconut shell activated carbon has an exceptionally high micropore density, which means that it can absorb more pollutants per gram. Activated carbon blocks made from 100% coconut shells, are of higher quality than conventional activated carbon blocks from mass production in China.
